LoadAssist

Primarily intended to assist the driver in loading his vehicle correctly and ensuring that both gross and axle loading limits are not exceeded.

The LoadAssist system will quickly and accurately provide a gross and axle weight of a truck as well as a truck/trailer combination. Axle weights can further be differentiated into a left and right weight assisting a balanced loading of the cargo.

Methods of operation

There are 3 distinct methods of operation, Dynamic, Static and Dystat.

Dynamic is carried out by driving the truck over the weigh sensor lowly (<10km/hour) until all axles have traversed over the weigh sensor. Dynamic is the fastest weighing method and achieves an accuracy within 5% and 3% if the RoboTech optional system is installed.

Static differs to dynamic in the truck must momentarily pause with each axle on the weigh sensor. The control unit provides an audible indication when the axle weight has been recorded thereby prompting the driver to move forward for the next axle. Static weighing is slower than dynamic, however this method achieves a weighing accuracy within 2.5%

Dystat is a more accurate and quicker method than Static and also provides the highest degree of accuracy. The Dystat method makes use of fore and aft laser sensors as well as the RoboTech indicator system to provide a semi automatic one man weighing solution. The RoboTech unit provides visual instructions to the driver for the positioning of each axle on the weigh sensor. The Dystat method provides an accuracy within 1% and requires only the driver of the vehicle. No other assistant is required to carry out the weighing procedure.

Available systems

The LoadAssist consists of 2 systems.

The first is a portable solution. This solution consists of a set of lightweight portable aluminium weigh pads and a control unit with long life rechargeable battery pack, graphic LCD display and slip printer. This system is very easy to assemble and can be assembled in less than 5 minutes. The system is durable and designed to operate in rugged conditions as can be seen on the pictures inset. Both Dynamic and static weighing is possible. The control unit provides a visual display of all axles weighed as well as the Gross and Group weight figures. A live reading is also visible to assist re-positioning cargo should an axle overloading condition exist. The control unit battery pack will last up to four months under regular use before recharging is required. Recharging can be carried out via the auxiliary Cigarette adaptor. Please see pictures.

The second method is the flush-mounted weigh sensor. This method is a permanent solution and consists of a flush-mounted weigh sensor, a control unit with battery pack and a slip printer.

This system can be further enhanced by the addition of the optional Robotech indicator system as well as the PC application software package.

This method is ideal for Dynamic as well as Dystat weighing methods.

Indicator Robotic control system

This system consists of a set of laser sensors and visual indicator block.

The laser sensors sense when the axle is correctly positioned on the weigh sensor. The Visual indicator system instructs the driver when to move forward, reverse or pause.

Pc application Software

The PC application software greatly enhances the LoadAssist system.

The software provides full database programming of the entire fleet of trucks and truck/trailer combinations.

All the truck data including Vin Numbers, Tare and Nett Weight, overloading data etc is recording and maintained within the database. The software also records and provides historical data for each vehicle.

Additional features such as Nett weight calculations, RFid vehicle identification as well as under and overloading reports.
